And when it comes to consistently delivering accurate flow data, the FLO-DAR leads all other sensors by staying out of the flow and avoiding fouling. So if you have a permanent site and want to use FLO-DAR, the FLO-STATION is the way to go.

The FLO-STATION, when combined with the non-contact FLO-DAR sensor and/or FLO-TOTE 3 AV Sensor, is a highly convenient solution. With four 4-20 mA outputs, the FLO-STATION allows you to easily transfer real-time flow data to SCADA and other data collection systems, control systems and display devices. Plus, the digital display lets you see flow, velocity, level, and totalized flow while right onsite. So whether you need accurate flow measurements for wastewater treatment plant balancing, billing requirements, EPA permitting requirements, inflow/infiltration studies, combined sewer overflow monitoring, process control, sampling pacing, or modeling/sewer system evaluations, the FLO-STATION delivers what you need.

It’s pretty easy to understand why “staying out of the flow” is a smart approach to avoidsensor-fouling and the resulting missed flow data. That’s exactly why we developed the non-contact FLO-DAR® AV Sensor. Using advanced digital Doppler radar velocity-sensing technology, along with ultrasonic level-sensing, the FLO-DAR revolutionizes open-channel flow monitoring by measuring from above the flow. This means it can more effectively provide highly-accurate flow data under a wide range of challenging flow and site conditions, including sensor disturbances, high solids content, high temperature, shallow and caustic flows, large man-made channels, and high velocities of up to 20 ft/s, to name a few.

Because the FLO-DAR is mounted above it all, personnel have little or no contact with the flow during installation. In fact, future sensor removal or replacement can even be done without the need for confined space entry. Talk about a time saver.

Lastly, for those times when a surcharge event does raise the flow to sensor level, the FLO-DAR's pressure level sensor and optional electromagnetic Surcharge Velocity Sensor will continue to provide uninterrupted and accurate flow data. All of this mean less need for routine sensor cleaning or maintenance, and more consistent flow data for your analysis. And that’s a good thing.

The Sigma Submerged AV Sensor is a robust, 1 MHz Acoustic Doppler flow sensor designed to measure wastewater with improved resistance to sensor fouling through either oil-filled or non-oil-filled options. This tried-and-true sensor also uses a pressure transducer to calculate flow level and incorporates advanced technologies to ensure accuracy, including automatically correcting for temperature effects on measurements.

When paired with our new Hach AV9000 Analyzer Module, this sensor provides “cleaner,” more precise data than ever before. With advanced signal processing and filtering options, the AV9000 Analyzer expands the applicability of the sensor into more difficult applications and velocity measurements can even account for water temperature swings and salinity concentrations. Plus, advanced analyzer diagnostics allow you to verify that the sensor is working properly even before you leave the site, giving you peace of mind.
